Stonewick Manor - 2011-2012
Stonewick Manor is a 3D third person horror game where you must escape a mansion before its inhabitants can get you.

My Role
On Stonewick Manor I was the Lead/Only Designer. I was in charge of concept, mechanics, systems, and level design.
We started the project September of 2011. We knew that we wanted to use the idea of an enely that would only move or attack when it was off screen as this concept was inherently unsettling and added an interesting amount of challenge to simply traversing the world.
We started with just the basement of a mansion and due to fears with scope we limited it to only that. This would prove to be the single largest mistake of the project. We made it to December working under this constraint and were left with something that was only kind of a game and not at all fun.
I decided that we would take a risk, completely scrap the levels that we had and start from scratch. We moved the game up into the actual rooms of the mansion allowing the player to explore more and get a larger sense of the world.
